ANS helps PRS for music expand Azure environment
The UK’s leading collection society, PRS for Music has partnered with cloud and digital services provider, ANS, to grow, scale and manage its cloud environment.
PRS for Music protects and collects royalties for its members – songwriters, composers and music publishers – whose music plays are monitored across the globe. The society represents the rights of more than 145,000 members and pays out three quarters of a billion pounds to rightsholders.
The organisation already had a small footprint in Microsoft Azure when they engaged ANS to help them grow, scale and manage their cloud environment. PRS undertook ANS’ complimentary cloud check service which enabled them to adopt best practice, address governance and increase its operational efficiency.
PRS for Music has since been able to utilise its cloud foundation to develop industry leading music consumption intelligence and insight, allowing the organisation to provide a better and more tailored service to its songwriter, composer and publisher members.
They are also able to leverage the power of cloud to accurately understand, analyse and get the right data to the right people to make payments. The organisation is using Azure Data Lakes and Azure Data Warehouses to be able to capture and validate the data. They then use Power BI to add value and present this information.
Rob Bruce Head of Technology and IT Support at PRS for Music said, “Cloud is providing us with a level of flexibility and scalability that we just couldn’t achieve before. We can now scale up very quickly when we need to, and when we don’t, we can just as easily scale back down. This allows us to manage the cost profile based on the demands of our members.”
“ANS has reinvented the service management model for the cloud world and brought with them a new way of thinking. This fresh approach combined with their Azure expertise is really helping us control and manage our cloud services as well as advising us on new and emerging services that can help us grow. Together with ANS, we are evolving our approach to cloud service management and I look forward to continuing to work with ANS to maximise the potential of cloud.”
Andy Barrow, CTO at ANS added, “For an organisation which processes over 11 trillion uses of music every year, public cloud has completely revolutionised the speed and scale at which PRS for Music can operate. The organisation engaged ANS because they needed the support of a partner that could take the burden of managing their growing cloud environment away. In entrusting ANS, PRS for Music can take confidence in knowing their cloud platform is being monitored around the clock and is consistently adhering to best practice, giving them the time and peace of mind to keep innovating and scaling their business.”
